What the source says
Iowa Business for Clean Energy is questioning Alliant’s generation plans and confidential data-center rates. Alliant says existing customers will not fund that growth.
The dispute and the response
Cami Koons reports that the group wants more scrutiny from the Iowa Utilities Commission and policymakers before proposed gas plants are built. Its concerns include cost recovery and whether large customers’ agreements cover the expense of serving them.
Alliant says its agreements protect existing customers and that generation costs face review in a future rate proceeding. Growing Iowa’s Economy also disputes the clean-energy group’s interpretation of customer protections.
This is reporting on competing claims and a request for scrutiny. It does not establish an IUC finding of cost shifting or an approved increase in household bills.
