Iowa’s nuclear task force recommends further planning as data centers and other industries increase electricity demand. Its report was released September 3.
Recommendations, rather than construction approval
Business Record reports recommendations for a statewide feasibility study, workforce development, supply-chain opportunities and support for communities considering nuclear projects. The report discusses MISO demand projections and the planned Duane Arnold restart in explaining the power-supply challenge.
The governor’s announcement describes nine recommendations. It does not authorize a new reactor or establish a change to customer electricity rates.
