The regional grid operator listed September 16, 2026, as the feedback deadline for its Flexible Large Load Interim Transmission Service and Contract Demand proposals.
What is being considered
The feedback notice asks stakeholders about the proposed service and how it would interact with existing market arrangements. This is a proposal and consultation record, not a final approval.
MISO’s large-load overview identifies data centers, AI computing and manufacturing among the drivers of new connection requests. Its planning framework considers how large users could connect, adjust consumption when needed and operate reliably as the grid expands.
The Iowa connection
Iowa projects seeking service through the MISO system could be affected if these proposals advance. The regional process is separate from local zoning and Iowa utility proceedings. These materials do not establish approval of a particular Iowa data center or a change in household electricity rates.
