What the September responses clarify

In answers Linn County posted September 18, Alliant describes Morgan Valley as a proposed 720-megawatt simple-cycle plant, rather than a six-phase development. The company says a future conversion to combined-cycle operation would depend on demand and require new permits.

In a separate September 15 answer, Linn County Public Health explains that the 950-megawatt MISO queue entry is a request to study a grid connection. It does not authorize construction or establish the final plant size. MISO operates the regional grid and electricity market.

Data-center costs remain a separate question

The county’s ratepayer FAQ carries Alliant’s July 7 statements that large customers, including data centers, would cover investments needed to serve them and that plant cost recovery would require Iowa Utilities Commission review. Those are company statements, not new September rate decisions.

The new responses clarify the proposal; they do not establish construction approval or a change in Iowa household bills.
